He reached out to me in the winter of 2018 with a picture and asked me to sculpt her. Her sadness held me captive and so I accepted and placed her on my calendar for the spring. I had several projects I was working on at the time however she was the only thing I could think of. After several distracted days I gave in and started designing. I worked like I was possessed and in a few sleepless weeks she poured out of me.
 
I drove her a mile up the road from my home studio in Erin, NY to the town graveyard and found a gravestone that matched the picture he sent when we spoke about bringing her to life. Using silk flowers to finish the effect, I set her in the snow, crouched and took a few dozen pictures working to recapture the scene. 
It broke my heart a little that I didn't get to keep her. The bane of the artist.
